Moves the rim 25 mm away from the hub. For example: original Grand Vitara I rims with ET 5 offset (plus 5) with added 25 mm wheel spacers correspond to ET -20 (minus 20) rims, which increases track width by 50 mm

NOTE: Wheel spacers with thickness ≥ 25 mm are first mounted to the hubs, and the rims are then bolted to the studs built into the spacers. In extreme cases such spacers may loosen or crack, therefore they will never be as safe as rims with the correct offset without spacers. Instead of changing rim offset using 25 mm wheel spacers, it is safer to buy rims with ET 0, ET -15, ET -25 or ET -30.

When does installing 25 mm wheel spacers make sense? In cases where on Grand Vitara I / XL7 (1998–2005) we have installed original aluminum rims (ET 5) or aftermarket rims with ET 0 and:

• we are very attached to them (for example they look great and we don't want to replace them). After installing four 25 mm wheel spacers we get ET -20 / ET -25, which together with a 3" or 4" Lift allows fitting larger tires
• a 4" Lift in the GVK version is installed, where the front track width is widened by GVK front A-arms. In this case the rear track width can be widened with two 25 mm wheel spacers. This means ET 5 / ET 0 at the front and ET -20 / ET -25 at the rear, which allows fitting larger tires

When does installing 25 mm wheel spacers not make sense? For example when:

• we have original steel rims (ET 5) from GVI (1998–2005). They have an inner recess where mud collects and is difficult to remove. It is better to sell these rims, add the money planned for spacers and buy new rims with ET -15 / ET -25 / ET -30
• on Suzuki Vitara I we have original rims with ET 25. It is safer to sell these rims and buy original aluminum rims from Vitara with ET 3 or Grand Vitara with ET 5, or new steel rims with ET 0

IMPORTANT:
Wheels with strongly negative offset (ET -25, ET -30... for Vitara I / X90 and ET -40, ET -45... for Grand Vitara I / XL7) are not recommended – the more negative offset, the more the wheels stick out and this negatively affects the steering and suspension: the steering wheel gets pulled on bumps and ruts, accelerates wear of steering linkage, steering rack, front shock absorbers and wheel bearings. The vehicle becomes less predictable to drive. It may feel better only on perfectly smooth roads. We do not recommend it.
